Electrical service in the Chennault area

The Chennault area covers the eastern Lake Charles stretch around the former Chennault Air Force Base (now Chennault International Airport). Drive time from our shop runs ten to twenty minutes depending on the address. The neighborhood has a mix of post-war housing (built when the base was active) and newer construction.

What we work on around Chennault

Service upgrades for the older base-era housing are the steady call. Many homes here were built in the 1940s and 1950s on 60A or 100A services. The wiring inside the walls is often cloth-jacket NM, sometimes with two-wire circuits that lack an equipment grounding conductor. We size new services off real load calcs, replace panels, update grounding electrode systems, and address the worst circuits as the budget allows.

Generator installs are heavy here. The area lost power for extended periods after Hurricane Laura and the proximity to the airport (still an active commercial and aviation facility) makes reliable power important for some homeowners. Most installs are Generac air-cooled units in the 22-26kW range.
