Found Hayes Electrical LLC on Angi's List last September to install a home generator. From the initial phone call and every phone call in between these folks are the best. They handled everything. So kind, helpful and just awesome people. Their workers are very professional, knows their job, all wore work uniforms. We may have had a hiccup once (not their fault) didn't matter they were on top of it thru the entire install. It literally was the easiest install of anything in my house ever!! If I ever need anything I will call Hayes Electrical and no one else. I can't say enough good about these folks. And they are easy to get attached to... their good people🙏 I have to thank Dorian and McKenzie you guys are great!!

Smart Home Installation in Grand Lake
Whole-home automation, smart lighting, locks, cameras, and mesh networking installed by Hayes Electrical.
Hayes Electrical installs smart home systems for Grand Lake waterfront and Cameron Parish properties, where flood-zone construction, hurricane exposure, and generator integration drive every design decision. We mount hubs and panels well above base flood elevation, integrate the smart-home loads with a whole-home standby generator, and back the line-voltage work with our Lifetime Craftsmanship Guarantee.
What this work usually runs.
Grand Lake service area.
From our Lake Charles shop.
Trucks dispatch out of 803 W Bayou Pines Dr, Ste D, Lake Charles, LA 70601. Most days a crew is already inside Calcasieu Parish on another job, so the drive is short. For after-hours calls we roll one out from the shop.
Grand Lake sits in coastal flood-zone country, and that changes everything about how we design a smart home. The hub never lives in a low closet or garage. Instead we mount it on an interior wall well above base flood elevation, ideally on the same wall as the structured wiring panel and at least four feet above slab. Same for the mesh router and any networking gear. We also wire the smart-home critical loads to the generator sub-panel rather than the main, so a Generac or Kohler standby unit carries the hub, mesh, cameras, and freezer through a multi-day outage.
Cameron Parish permits where applicable, but the more pressing issue here is hurricane exposure. Every install gets a tested storm-mode scene, a UPS sized for the actual time-to-generator transfer, and outdoor camera locations chosen so the cameras survive a Category 2 rather than getting shredded by airborne debris. Hurricane Laura and Delta both taught us a lot about where not to mount cameras on this side of the parish, and we apply those lessons to every coastal install we do.
What we look at for this job
Permits and inspections
Grand Lake sits in southern Cameron Parish along the lake. Electrical permits are issued through Cameron Parish Permits. We confirm flood zone elevation requirements with the parish before we pull, then handle the inspection. Permit work runs under LA Lic #73821. You do not touch the paperwork.

Why hiring a licensed electrician matters.
Here is the no-spin cut on smart home systems. Same answer we would give a friend in Westlake or Carlyss, whether or not we end up winning the job.

What Southwest Louisiana says about our work
Real reviews from real customers across Lake Charles, Sulphur, Moss Bluff, and the surrounding parishes.
Hayes Electrical, LLC treat you like family. When I called I had an immediate need and they made me a priority. They were very friendly and professional and communicated well. There was no guessing. Their office staff and the person who answers the phone was on top of it! If you're looking for great professional service then you need to call Hayes Electrical.
They were really helpful and got to me the next day, a storm came through and my electric box outside got messed up really bad, I only had half of my house working. It was a fire hazard, waiting to happen. I had called many places to come out to look at it and they was putting me off, it was so scary. I was so blessed when I called them the owner came out the same day and said that they could come out the next day to fix it. I thank God this company was so worried about my house catching on fire, so he put me in front of other customers because he was really concerned. I highly Recommend this company Hayes Electric to everyone out there for problems, they were very reasonable, it did not cost me a fortune that I did not have. And by the way to let everyone know they do have a payment plan if you do not have the money at the time of their service. I can't thank them enough for being so concerned about the problem that I had. Again Thank Yall SOOO MUCH AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!! TINA SCHIELE
We turned to the company for help to find out the reason why our generator stopped working, fix the problem and start it. We were served by Dorian, a very nice young man, a good specialist and a professional in his field. Everything went well, Dorian did diagnostics, invited a mechanic and our generator works. We recommend this company if you have problems with the generator.
Common questions for Smart Home Systems in Grand Lake
Can my smart home work during a hurricane evacuation from Grand Lake?
Yes, and this is the main reason coastal clients install one. We tie the hub, mesh, cameras, and refrigeration to your standby generator, secure remote access with two-factor authentication, and build a storm-mode scene that primes the house before you leave. You can check cameras and lock state from anywhere with cell service.
How do you handle flood zones for the smart-home hub and networking?
We never put the hub or networking gear in a garage, low closet, or anywhere under base flood elevation. The standard spot is an interior wall four feet or more above slab, on the same wall as the structured wiring panel, with a generator-backed circuit. We also document the install so a flood insurance adjuster has a clear inventory.
Will outdoor cameras survive a hurricane in Grand Lake?
The ones we mount under deep soffits and eaves typically do, and that is where we put them. Cameras hung off the exterior wall with no overhead protection get destroyed by airborne debris in a Category 2 or higher. We will tell you in the walkthrough which camera locations we recommend versus which ones we will install but warn you about.
