Grand Lake sits in coastal flood-zone country, and that changes everything about how we design a smart home. The hub never lives in a low closet or garage. Instead we mount it on an interior wall well above base flood elevation, ideally on the same wall as the structured wiring panel and at least four feet above slab. Same for the mesh router and any networking gear. We also wire the smart-home critical loads to the generator sub-panel rather than the main, so a Generac or Kohler standby unit carries the hub, mesh, cameras, and freezer through a multi-day outage.

Cameron Parish permits where applicable, but the more pressing issue here is hurricane exposure. Every install gets a tested storm-mode scene, a UPS sized for the actual time-to-generator transfer, and outdoor camera locations chosen so the cameras survive a Category 2 rather than getting shredded by airborne debris. Hurricane Laura and Delta both taught us a lot about where not to mount cameras on this side of the parish, and we apply those lessons to every coastal install we do.

They were really helpful and got to me the next day, a storm came through and my electric box outside got messed up really bad, I only had half of my house working. It was a fire hazard, waiting to happen. I had called many places to come out to look at it and they was putting me off, it was so scary. I was so blessed when I called them the owner came out the same day and said that they could come out the next day to fix it.
