They were really helpful and got to me the next day, a storm came through and my electric box outside got messed up really bad, I only had half of my house working. It was a fire hazard, waiting to happen. I had called many places to come out to look at it and they was putting me off, it was so scary. I was so blessed when I called them the owner came out the same day and said that they could come out the next day to fix it. I thank God this company was so worried about my house catching on fire, so he put me in front of other customers because he was really concerned. I highly Recommend this company Hayes Electric to everyone out there for problems, they were very reasonable, it did not cost me a fortune that I did not have. And by the way to let everyone know they do have a payment plan if you do not have the money at the time of their service. I can't thank them enough for being so concerned about the problem that I had. Again Thank Yall SOOO MUCH AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!! TINA SCHIELE

Electrical service in Prien, LA
Prien is a Lake Charles area submarket between south Lake Charles and Prien Lake, still inside Calcasieu Parish. Drive time from our shop is ten to fifteen minutes. The area covers a mix of mid-century brick ranch homes through the established streets and newer subdivision construction toward the lake. Country Club Road, Lake Street, and Nelson Road are the main corridors.
What we work on in Prien
Service upgrades dominate the residential call mix. Many Prien homes were built in the 1960s and 1970s on 150A or 200A services that have been in continuous use for forty or fifty years. The breakers are tired, the bus may be corroded, and the original meter base often needs replacement at the same time. We run a real load calc, replace the service panel, and update the grounding electrode system per NEC 250.
Whole-home generator installs are heavy here. Prien residents tend to invest in standby systems and the demand has not slowed since 2020. Most installs are Generac air-cooled units in the 22-26kW range. Some larger homes step up to a 36kW liquid-cooled unit when the load survey justifies it.
Lighting and home automation work comes up more in Prien than in most of our coverage area. Custom kitchen and outdoor lighting installs, smart switches, and pool/spa equipment circuits per NEC 680 are routine. We pull the parish permit for any pool or hot tub work and follow the bonding requirements carefully.
How to reach us
Call (337) 570-2327 or use the contact page. We pull the Calcasieu Parish permit and handle the Entergy coordination.
Times are typical, not guaranteed. Traffic, weather, and parts on hand can shift them. We will tell you a real window when you call.
Who issues your Prien permit.
Prien is the unincorporated Calcasieu Parish area along Lake Street and Country Club Road. Electrical permits are issued by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Building Division. We pull the permit and meet the parish inspector.
We pull the permit under our Louisiana contractor license, coordinate the rough and final inspections, and walk the inspector through the work so you do not have to.
What Southwest Louisiana says about our work
Real reviews from real customers across Lake Charles, Sulphur, Moss Bluff, and the surrounding parishes.
My parents have an older home and was having an issue with circuits overloading. We contacted Hayes after seeing they had rave reviews. They sent someone right over, diagnosed the issue and gave us a few pricing package options. We selected the pricing package that was most affordable for us and scheduled their appointment to come back and do the work. On the day scheduled, two gentlemen arrived promptly, did a walk through assessment and helped us understand everything they would be doing and got right to work! They were professional, efficient and very thorough. My parents circuits were rerouted and are working better than ever!
Great service! Brent was able to diagnose the problem and complete the repair quickly and efficiently! He was able to solve a problem that my contractor's electricians were unable to solve! He was very courteous and professional. Highly recommend Hayes Electrical!! Great experience from first call to the end!
Hayes Electrical, LLC treat you like family. When I called I had an immediate need and they made me a priority. They were very friendly and professional and communicated well. There was no guessing. Their office staff and the person who answers the phone was on top of it! If you're looking for great professional service then you need to call Hayes Electrical.
Common questions in Prien
Do you serve Prien?
Yes, we work all of the Prien area south of Lake Charles, including the neighborhoods off Lake Street, Country Club Road, and Nelson Road. It is a regular stop on our daily route.
How fast can you get to my home in Prien?
Prien is a short hop from our Lake Charles shop, often inside 15 minutes. Non-emergency work usually lands same-day or next-day, and emergency arrival is typically inside two hours.
Do I need a permit for whole-home surge protection in Prien?
A panel-mounted Type 2 SPD per NEC 285 typically rolls into a panel permit if you are touching the panel, otherwise it can often go in without a separate permit. We confirm with the parish before we start, then install on a dedicated breaker tied to the main bus.
My Prien house has a 1980s panel that hums loudly. Is that normal?
A faint hum from a panel is normal, but a loud buzz usually means a loose lug, a failing main breaker, or a saturated neutral. We pull the dead front, thermal-image the connections, and tighten or replace what is failing. Ignored, it can arc and start a fire.
Do you do landscape lighting in Prien?
Yes, we install low-voltage landscape lighting and the line-voltage outdoor circuits behind it. NEC 411 and 600 cover low-voltage layouts and GFCI requirements for outdoor circuits per 210.8. We size the transformer, set the runs, and bury per code.
